Kambol District Authorities Urge Vendors, Workers to Improve Waste Management Along National Road 4

In an effort to enhance order, hygiene, and the environment in public spaces, authorities in Kambol District, a suburb of Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh, have been undertaking initiatives. On September 21, 2026, Mr. Khim Sun Sothea, Governor of Kambol District Administration, led district and commune officials from Kambol and Kantork, along with representatives from the Thap Samit factory, to educate vendors and workers operating in front of factories along National Road 4 about maintaining a hygienic environment and proper waste disposal. This guidance took place along National Road 4 within Kambol District, Phnom Penh, an area characterized by active movement and vending by residents and workers, particularly around factory zones. During direct engagement with vendors and residents, the district governor and his team advised vendors to organize their selling spaces orderly, ensuring they do not obstruct traffic or public order. Concurrently, the team disseminated information and appealed to vendors and workers to take responsibility for packaging their waste and disposing of it correctly in designated bins, urging them to avoid littering on roadsides, in canals, or public areas. The activity also involved the placement of waste bins and public announcements via loudspeakers to boost public awareness and participation in maintaining hygiene and the environment. Direct guidance to vendors and sellers is seen as part of the collaboration between local authorities, vendors, factories, and the public to ensure better order in areas surrounding factories and along the roads. The Kambol District Administration has requested continued cooperation from residents and vendors, starting with maintaining cleanliness around their business premises and participating in proper waste disposal. The participation of every citizen is considered a crucial factor in preserving a clean and orderly environment sustainably.
