Cambodia Releases 60,000 Juvenile Fish and Crabs to Boost Marine Resources in Preah Sihanouk

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has released approximately 60,000 juvenile fish and crabs into the marine waters of Preah Sihanouk province as part of the "2026 Program to Release Juvenile Fish and Horse Crabs to Increase Marine Fishery Resources." The event was attended by H.E. Im Rachana, Undersecretary of State for Fisheries Conservation. The ceremony was organized by Hor Daan Sihanoukville Company, senior officials from the Department of Fisheries Conservation under the General Directorate of Fisheries, and representatives from the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Preah Sihanouk. The release included 10,000 juvenile fish and 50,000 juvenile horse crabs. H.E. Im Rachana emphasized that the release of these juvenile fish and crabs into the sea significantly contributes to the conservation, enhancement, and expansion of Cambodia's marine ecosystem, making it even more abundant. She further stated that the conservation of fishery resources is not solely the responsibility of state institutions but a shared duty of all stakeholders. The Undersecretary of State highly commended this exemplary cooperation between the state and the private sector and encouraged other private companies to actively participate in conservation activities to ensure the sustainability of fishery resources and support the livelihoods of fishing communities in the region.
