Vietnam Concludes Venezuela Earthquake Rescue Mission, Highlighting International Contribution

Vietnam's rescue team has concluded its mission in Venezuela following devastating earthquakes. The powerful twin earthquakes struck on the night of June 24, causing heavy casualties and widespread devastation. The Vietnamese expert team, in coordination with local authorities, pulled seven more bodies from the rubble of collapsed structures, bringing the total number of bodies recovered and handed over to 30. They also identified and handed over 12 locations where victims are suspected to remain buried. During a field meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Van My inquired about the team's living and working conditions and commended the sense of responsibility, determination, and resilience demonstrated by the officers and soldiers. He emphasized that Vietnam's deployment of search and rescue forces to assist Venezuela in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters is a noble gesture, reflecting a strong spirit of international solidarity. Working under harsh conditions, military and police personnel coordinated closely in multiple search teams, combining their expertise with specialized rescue equipment to locate survivors and victims as quickly and efficiently as possible. Vietnam is among approximately 30 countries that have deployed rescue teams to Venezuela, and this mission was carried out with the motivation of "a mission from the heart" and a determination to make every possible effort to save lives. This operation demonstrates Vietnam's commitment to humanitarian aid in the international community and its capacity to respond in challenging situations. Under its one-party system, such international contributions can be seen as part of a foreign policy aimed at enhancing domestic stability and international standing. As Vietnam continues its economic growth, it is showcasing its ability not only to receive international support but also to assist other nations.
