Cuban Ambassador Pledges Deeper Bilateral Cooperation with Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, September 24, 2026 -- HE Milena Caridad Zaldivar Piedra, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Cambodia, has pledged to continue strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation with Cambodia to be even more robust and in-depth. The ambassador made these remarks during a courtesy call and working meeting with Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on the afternoon of September 23, 2026, at the Peace Palace. During the occasion, HE the Ambassador expressed her gratitude to Samdech Thipadei for taking time out of his busy schedule to grant her an audience and hold a working meeting. She also highly commended the cooperation between the two countries in many sectors in the past. HE the Ambassador emphasized that Cambodia is a good friend of Cuba, always supporting each other at all times and under all circumstances. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet highly valued the historical relations between the two countries, especially during Cambodia's most difficult times after liberation from the genocidal Pol Pot regime. He expressed optimism that this good relationship has continued to the present and is being further strengthened and expanded. Samdech Thipadei expressed optimism that cooperation between the two countries will continue to expand into other potential sectors, such as agriculture and health. Concurrently, Samdech Thipadei and HE the Ambassador continued to discuss and exchange views on cooperation in the fields of education, agriculture, culture, tourism, and mutual support on international forums. On this occasion, HE the Prime Minister also encouraged HE the Ambassador to continue connecting and discussing with relevant ministries and institutions to seek opportunities for expanding cooperation in various potential sectors.© National News Agency of Cambodia, 2018
