It is reported that 307 students who achieved the highest marks nationwide in the 2026 matriculation exams and industrial, agricultural, and livestock university entrance exams were awarded pure gold coins weighing one tical each. On August 31, an award ceremony was held at the Naypyitaw State Academy, Convocation Hall, in Naypyitaw, to honor students who achieved outstanding success in the 2026 matriculation exams and industrial, agricultural, and livestock university entrance exams. It is reported that State Administration Council Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended, delivered a speech, and presented the awards. It is reported that the ceremony was attended by Vice President Daw Nan Nwe Aye, Speaker of the People's Assembly U Khin Aye, Speaker of the National Assembly U Aung Lin Dway, Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Senior General Ye Win Oo, Union Ministers and Union-level officials, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services, Chairman of the Naypyitaw Council, Commander of the Naypyitaw Command, Deputy Ministers, departmental officials, teachers, parents of students, and invited guests, including students who achieved outstanding success in the 2026 matriculation exams and industrial, agricultural, and livestock university entrance exams. At the ceremony, the State Administration Council Chairman stated that the high capabilities of qualified young educated individuals are essential for developing the nation into a modern state and for it to stand with dignity. He said that outstanding young people with high ideals and the five strengths (physical, moral, intellectual, aesthetic, and practical) are invaluable treasures for the nation and are also key resources with the ability to perform and create for nation-building and development. He added that the award-winning students present in the convocation hall are well-versed in basic education and knowledge, have high aspirations, and have achieved outstanding success through persistent effort and diligence. He also expressed his belief and hope that they will continue to strive for excellence in their lives by continuously learning advanced education with a firm and steadfast spirit. This year, students from industrial, agricultural, and livestock schools also took the matriculation exams along with students from basic education schools. The pass rate for this year's matriculation exams was 52.37 percent, showing an increase compared to previous years. Furthermore, the pass rate for the industrial, agricultural, and livestock university entrance exams, which were held for the first time this year, was 49.7 percent, which is a source of pride for the nation's education. It was reported that 674 students achieved distinctions in all subjects in the matriculation exams, 32 students achieved the highest marks in their respective subject combinations nationwide, and in the industrial, agricultural, and livestock university entrance exams, 3 students achieved distinctions in all subjects, and 50 students achieved the highest marks in their respective subject combinations nationwide. It was stated that at today's ceremony, 307 students who achieved the highest marks nationwide in the matriculation exams and industrial, agricultural, and livestock university entrance exams will be honored with one-tical pure gold coins. He also stated that this is to acknowledge and honor the efforts and achievements of outstanding students, and also to encourage them to continue striving for excellence in higher education. He stated that in striving towards a modern and developed nation, the intellectual richness, good basic character, innovative creativity, and the ability to cherish and preserve national and regional pride of the citizens are essential. Only by doing so can a strong and modern new nation be built with the contributions of well-rounded and capable citizens. He added that the state has opened basic education and industrial, agricultural, and livestock high schools since the 2023-2024 academic year to produce qualified skilled workers for increasing industrial and manufacturing sectors. He mentioned that 92 schools have been opened so far, and students who have completed their studies at these schools have also graduated. Furthermore, he stated that vocational subjects have been included in the basic education middle school curriculum since this academic year. Subsequently, the State Administration Council Chairman presented awards to the students who achieved the highest marks nationwide in the science stream of the 2026 matriculation exams: Ma Theerizoe, Ma Aye Chan Myae, Maung Sithu Bo, Ma Thet Hnin San, Maung Nyan Hein Zay, Ma May Zin Phyo Myat, Ma Ei Kay Zin, Ma Thin Pyant Phyu Khin, Maung Phone Tayza Thway, Ma Saung Hnin Phu, and Ma Khin Nyein Su. Following that, Vice President Daw Nan Nwe Aye presented awards to 11 students who achieved the highest marks nationwide in the arts stream of the 2026 matriculation exams. Speaker of the People's Assembly U Khin Aye presented awards to 10 students who achieved the highest marks nationwide in the arts stream of the 2026 matriculation exams. Speaker of the National Assembly U Aung Lin Dway presented awards to 5 students who achieved the highest marks in their respective subject combinations in the industrial, agricultural, and livestock university entrance exams, and to 5 students who achieved the highest marks in the 2026 matriculation exams. Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Senior General Ye Win Oo presented awards to 10 students who achieved the highest marks in the 2026 matriculation exams.
