Cambodia and Philippines Vow to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation Amidst Cyber Fraud Crackdown

On the afternoon of July 2, 2026, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call and farewell visit from Her Excellency Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to the Kingdom of Cambodia, and her delegation, at the Peace Palace. During the meeting, H.E. Ambassador Mayo expressed her congratulations on Cambodia's development in all sectors and her satisfaction with the progress of the Philippines-Cambodia bilateral relations, which have reached a new level. She highly valued the progress of close cooperation between the two countries in many areas, including economy and trade, education, vocational training, agriculture, culture, defense, and security. Concurrently, she congratulated the government's decisive measures in combating technology-based fraud crimes and highly praised the good cooperation between Cambodia and the Philippines, especially the close collaboration with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions on this matter. H.E. Ambassador Mayo further stated that 2027 will mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Cambodia, a significant time for both countries to continue nurturing their bilateral relationship even stronger. She also emphasized that the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), led by the Philippines, will continue to carry out its mission with transparency and neutrality. In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet congratulated H.E. Ambassador Mayo on her successful diplomatic mission in Cambodia. The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction and high appreciation for the Ambassador's active role in contributing to strengthening and expanding bilateral relations and cooperation further. Samdech Thipadei highlighted that Cambodia and the Philippines still have many opportunities and potential to deepen and strengthen bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of agriculture and tourism. Samdech Thipadei also highly valued the role of the Philippines as the rotating chair of ASEAN in facilitating the resolution of the Cambodia-Thailand border issue in the past. He briefed H.E. Ambassador Mayo on the latest developments regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border situation, reaffirming Cambodia's commitment and stance to resolve border issues peacefully, based on international law, and in accordance with existing conventions, treaties, and agreements between Cambodia and Thailand.
