Cambodian Ministry of Labor Enhances AI Capabilities for Public Service Efficiency

The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training of Cambodia held a training workshop on 'Practical Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI)' for its leadership on the morning of September 22, 2026, at the Ministry's headquarters. The objective was to enhance practical application capabilities and leadership in the digital era, utilizing AI as a tool to support work, modernize governance, and provide public services more efficiently, rapidly, and responsively to the needs of the public, especially workers and employers. Mr. Huot Sinath, Secretary of State of the Ministry, emphasized that the use of AI technology is becoming a crucial part of digital transformation, capable of strengthening work efficiency, information analysis, and administrative management, as well as supporting the improvement of public service delivery. Therefore, this training is vital for enhancing the strategic understanding of leaders regarding the trends and impacts of AI on the labor market, ethical management, data security, risk management, and fostering a culture of innovation, in line with the direction of building a digital government and a digital socio-economy. Concurrently, Mr. Sinath reminded leaders and officials to be cautious of potential risks associated with AI usage, including the leakage of confidential information, generation of inaccurate information, data bias, over-reliance on AI systems that could affect creativity and officials' capabilities, as well as legal and intellectual property issues. In this regard, the use of AI must be coupled with human oversight, judgment, data protection, and adherence to professional ethics to ensure the safe and responsible use of technology. He expressed gratitude to the instructors and the technical team of the Digital Transformation Leadership and Steering Committee for sharing their knowledge and practical applications related to AI. He also requested that the trainees, who are leaders and officials, continue to strengthen their knowledge of digital technologies, apply the acquired knowledge in their daily work, share it with their subordinates, and promote the creation of an innovation culture while seeking ways to utilize AI appropriately and effectively. The enhancement of AI utilization capabilities among the leadership and officials of the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training is considered part of the preparation to respond to technological changes and the labor market, aiming to make administrative work more efficient and public service delivery to citizens, workers, and employers more convenient, timely, and responsive, in line with Cambodia's digital transformation process.
