Kandal Governor Warns of Strict Measures Against Illegal Dumping, Urges Enhanced Dengue and Waterway Safety

Kandal Provincial Governor Kouk Chamroeun has called on all citizens in Kandal Province to stop indiscriminately dumping waste and to actively participate in maintaining environmental cleanliness. He stressed that environmental protection is not just the responsibility of the authorities but a collective duty of the entire community. The governor stated that the provincial administration will continue to implement necessary measures, including installing security cameras in some areas to prevent violations and to capture the actions of individuals who dump waste along roads and in public places. These individuals will be publicly identified and fined according to the law, with no leniency or exceptions. In addition, the governor urged citizens to increase their vigilance during the high-water season, particularly when traveling by water. He mandated that all ferries and boats must adhere to proper technical standards to ensure the safety of passengers and be equipped with adequate life jackets or rescue devices. Local authorities are tasked with strengthening safety inspections at all ferry crossings to prevent potential accidents during the rainy season. Lastly, concerning the issue of dengue fever, the governor expressed deep concern over the rising number of infections, requiring the participation of all relevant parties, including local authorities, health officials, and the public. He instructed the Ministry of Health and local authorities to conduct targeted spraying of mosquito-killing agents in areas with high infection rates. He also urged residents to eliminate stagnant water, the breeding ground for mosquitoes, to apply larvicides in jars and water containers, and to implement regular preventive measures to cut off the spread of dengue fever.
