Vietnam-Laos Border Guards' Young Officers Discuss Friendship and Future
Young officers from the border guard forces of Vietnam and Laos held an exchange program in Nghe An province, Vietnam. Discussing the theme of "Ironclad Friendship – Stepping Firmly Towards the Future," they exchanged views on border region peace, stability, and future cooperation.
A friendly exchange program between young officers of the border guard forces of Vietnam and Laos was held on the evening of July 4th in Nghe An province, north-central Vietnam. Jointly organized by the Border Guard Command of Vietnam and the Border Guard Command of the Lao People's Army, the program, themed "Ironclad Friendship – Stepping Firmly Towards the Future," provided a platform for young officers from both nations to discuss border region peace, stability, and future cooperation. The exchange aims to further deepen the historical friendly relations between the two countries and strengthen cooperation in border security. Particular emphasis was placed on the safety and improved livelihoods of people living in border areas, as well as cooperation in combating crimes such as drug trafficking and illegal border crossings. Young officers shared their experiences and challenges, reaffirming the importance of maintaining and developing strong ties between the two nations for the future. Under its one-party system, Vietnam continues to pursue economic growth, and strengthening relations with neighboring countries is essential for national stability and development. Laos, in particular, shares a historically and geographically close relationship with Vietnam, and cooperation in border security is a key pillar of their security cooperation. This exchange is considered significant in strengthening the foundation for future cooperative relations by building a network among the next generation of officers within the context of these bilateral relations. On the same day, Nghe An province also held a send-off ceremony for the "Green Summer" youth volunteer campaign, indicating active community contribution activities. However, the province also faces challenges such as difficulties in the Hua Na hydropower project and the collection of biological samples from a cemetery requiring the identification of a large number of martyrs' remains, suggesting that regional development and efforts to address social issues are progressing concurrently.
