Cambodia Seeks Stronger Parliamentary Ties with Uzbekistan, Extends Invitation to Speakers' Conference

President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, has expressed Cambodia’s readiness to further strengthen bilateral parliamentary cooperation with Uzbekistan and invited Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan H.E. Ms. Tanzila Narbayeva to attend the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC-2) in Phnom Penh later this month. In a letter dated Aug. 7, Samdech Techo Hun Sen conveyed his sincere appreciation to H.E. Ms. Tanzila Narbayeva for her letter of June 30 conveying congratulations and best wishes to him on the occasion of the International Day of Parliamentarism. He also extended his warmest congratulations and best wishes to H.E. Ms. Narbayeva and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Samdech Hun Sen noted Uzbekistan’s increasingly prominent role in global and regional affairs, reflecting the vision and leadership of its government in promoting peace, prosperity and sustainable development. Following the participation of a Cambodian delegation in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), held from April 5 to 9 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Cambodia stands ready to continue working closely with H.E. Ms. Narbayeva to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly between the two Senates, he said. The Cambodian Senate President stressed that, in advancing the shared aspiration for durable peace, parliaments must continue to play a proactive role in promoting dialogue, strengthening international cooperation and addressing pressing challenges facing the global community. In this regard, Cambodia will host the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC-2) in Phnom Penh from Aug. 26 to 28, 2026. Having already extended an invitation to H.E. Ms. Narbayeva, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his sincere hope that she would be able to participate in the important forum, saying that the conference would benefit from her knowledge and experience and that her in-person participation would make an invaluable contribution to its success. Samdech Techo concluded by conveying his highest consideration to H.E. Ms. Narbayeva and extending his best wishes for her continued good health, happiness and success in all her endeavours. By C.
