Two Construction Workers Electrocuted to Death in Cambodia's Kampot Province, Uncle and Nephew Tragedy

A tragic electrocution accident has occurred at a construction site in Kampot City, Kampot Province, southern Cambodia, resulting in the deaths of two construction workers, an uncle and his nephew. The incident took place near noon on July 31st. According to local police, the lead worker (35 years old) was on a metal scaffold laying bricks when the accident happened. It is believed that the scaffold came into contact with a live wire underneath, causing him to be electrocuted. The lead worker fell from the scaffold. His nephew (15 years old), seeing his uncle fall, rushed to help him but was also electrocuted and died at the scene. The owner of the house under construction is Mao Paou (45 years old). The deceased were identified as the uncle, lead worker Oun Savi (35 years old), and the nephew, assistant worker Roms Phirun (15 years old), both residents of Kampot City. After conducting an on-site examination, police handed over the bodies of the two victims to their families for traditional funeral rites. This incident highlights potential deficiencies in safety management practices on construction sites in Cambodia, raising concerns and calls for preventive measures.
