AI Summary

The Cambodian government is promoting women's leadership development and digital skills enhancement. Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An called for strengthened training in leadership and digital knowledge to enable women to compete in future elections. This is part of the current administration's policy emphasizing women's empowerment and gender equality.

The Cambodian government is further strengthening women's leadership capabilities and digital skills development. Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An, who also chairs the Association of Cambodian Women for Peace and Development, announced this policy during a Zoom meeting reviewing the association's activities for the first half of 2026 and setting directions for the second half. The meeting was attended by over 1,000 participants, including representatives from various branches of the association, ministries, and 25 provinces and cities. Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, the government's policies to support women in the 7th mandate have been further strengthened through the "Pentagonal Strategy-Phase I." The Prime Minister has repeatedly emphasized expanding opportunities for women, promoting gender equality, enhancing women's capabilities in the digital economy, and protecting the rights and well-being of women and children in all circumstances. For concrete action goals in the second half of 2026, the Deputy Prime Minister outlined four key points: 1. Strengthening and expanding women's capacity building: Continue to provide training courses in leadership and digital knowledge to women's networks at the grassroots level, equipping them with the necessary capabilities to participate and run in future elections. 2. Strengthening local organizational networks: Maintain close collaboration with the public, especially vulnerable women and children, to provide timely support for pressing issues and contribute to eradicating domestic violence and human trafficking. 3. Maintaining solidarity and cooperation: Enhance good cooperation with local authorities at all levels and partner organizations to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of the association's activities. 4. Achieving success: Women at all levels must strive to successfully implement the decisions and action plans of the Association of Cambodian Women for Peace and Development and the Women's Movement Council, contributing to participation in the upcoming Commune-Sangkat Council elections.
