Senate ratings down, House up in Q2 2026 --OCTA

Public trust and satisfaction ratings for the Senate declined in the second quarter of 2026, while ratings for the House of Representatives improved, according to the second quarter 2026 Tugon ng Masa Survey by OCTA Research. The survey found that trust in the Senate fell from 44% in the first quarter to 41% in the second quarter, while distrust increased from 24% to 27%. Satisfaction with the Senate’s performance likewise declined from 42% to 38%, while dissatisfaction rose from 27% to 32%. Despite the declines, public opinion of the Senate remained mixed nationwide. The survey showed that 41% of adult Filipinos trusted the chamber, while 27% distrusted it and 32% were undecided, OCTA said. On the Senate’s performance, 38% said they were satisfied, 32% dissatisfied and 30% undecided. In contrast, trust in the House of Representatives increased from 36% in the first quarter to 38% in the second quarter, while distrust declined from 33% to 28%. Satisfaction with the House’s performance also rose from 35% to 37%, while dissatisfaction fell from 35% to 32%. Nationwide, 38% of adult Filipinos said they trusted the House, compared with 28% who expressed distrust and 33% who were undecided. Meanwhile, 37% were satisfied with the House’s performance, 32% were dissatisfied and 31% were undecided. The survey fieldwork was conducted from July 04 to 11, 2026, using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 respondents aged 18 and above. The survey has a margin of error of ±3 % at a 95% confidence level. Subnational estimates for the geographic areas covered in the survey have the following margins of error at a 95% confidence level: ±6% for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The survey was conducted during the leadership row and eventual leadership change in the Senate. It also coincided with the opening days of the Senate’s impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, which convened as an impeachment court on July 6, 2026.—LDF, GMA News
