Vietnam Swiftly Responds to Support Vietnamese Nationals in Japan Earthquake Aftermath

No Vietnamese nationals have been reported killed, injured or seriously affected by a magnitude 7.1 earthquake that struck Kumamoto prefecture in southwestern Japan on the afternoon of July 28. The Embassy of Vietnam in Japan and its labour management board are actively implementing citizen protection measures and maintaining close contact with relevant organisations and companies employing Vietnamese workers in the affected areas to monitor the situation and provide assistance. Vietnam's representative offices in Japan immediately contacted local authorities through the international affairs divisions of Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Oita and Miyazaki prefectures, as well as Vietnamese community associations in the affected areas, to assess the situation and stand ready to provide timely assistance for Vietnamese citizens impacted by the disaster. While many Vietnamese nationals are safe, they are in urgent need of support, particularly access to drinking water and food supplies. The incident highlights the importance of the government's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad and its capacity to respond to such emergencies.
