House Panel Seeks to Verify OVP Confidential Fund Receipts
During the Philippines' impeachment proceedings, questions have arisen regarding the validity of the Office of the Vice President's (OVP) confidential fund receipts from late 2022. A former Commission on Audit (COA) auditor's testimony was preceded by a request for more time to ensure the accuracy of the evidence.
MANILA, Philippines – House prosecution counsel Lorna Kapunan requested a brief recess before resuming the direct examination of former Commission on Audit (COA) Intelligence and Confidential Funds Audit Office auditor Roderick Wamil, saying they needed more time to identify and cross-check acknowledgment receipts covering December 21 to 31, 2022 to “preempt any possible technical objection” during the impeachment proceedings. Kapunan’s request came after Wamil took his oath as a witness in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
