August Tradition Pushed for Gen Alpha Nationalism Education

Indonesian Parliament (DPR) member Cucun Abdul Wahid has proposed that the traditional festivities celebrating the nation's Independence Day in August should be utilized as an educational tool to foster nationalism among the younger generation, particularly the cohort known as "Gen Alpha." Wahid highlighted that the various festivals and events held across the country during this period offer a valuable opportunity to transmit Indonesia's history, culture, and national identity to the next generation, beyond mere entertainment. He expressed hope that children can develop pride in their own culture and deepen their loyalty to the nation through traditional games, performances, and reenactments of historical events. Indonesia observes its Independence Day in August, a month marked by diverse and creative celebrations in different regions. These events serve as crucial cultural occasions for commemorating the memory of the independence struggle and strengthening national unity. Wahid believes that by effectively integrating these traditional activities into the modern education system, it is possible to instill patriotism in Gen Alpha, who are digital natives, in a more practical and emotionally resonant manner.
