Jakarta Partners with New York University for Mid-Income Scholarship Program

The Jakarta Provincial Government is exploring a partnership with New York University (NYU) for its "LPDP Jakarta" scholarship program, scheduled to commence in 2027. This initiative aims to provide international educational opportunities for students from specific segments of Jakarta's population. The potential collaboration between the Jakarta Provincial Government and NYU was highlighted in a video shared on the TikTok account of Governor Anung Pramono. "Next year, Jakarta will have an endowment fund for scholarships. Approximately 75 students from middle-class backgrounds will be targeted. Of course, New York University will be one of the targets for this program," stated Pramono. Representatives from NYU present at the meeting included Angie Kamath, Dean of the NYU School of Professional Studies (NYU SPS), and John McLoughlin, Associate Dean of Enrollment & Student Success. Kamath expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, saying, "Today, we are very enthusiastic to deepen our cooperation through your scholarship program. We have many common interests." She also noted that NYU already has around 2,000 alumni from Indonesia. McLoughlin also welcomed the cooperation offer from the Jakarta Provincial Government. "We are very enthusiastic about this scholarship because our commitment is related to access and creating more pathways for students. We look forward to working with you and the Jakarta government," he explained. Beyond discussions on the LPDP Jakarta scholarship program, the Jakarta Provincial Government and NYU also signed a Letter of Intent for collaboration in the fields of education, sports, and the environment.
