World Bank Organizes Joint Training to Enhance Project Implementation Capacity in Cambodia and Laos

The World Bank organized a training program titled "CAMBODIA/LAOS Client Operational Capacity Learning Program on Strengthening Client Capacity for Impact" from September 15-17, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Phnom Penh. The program brought together leaders, project staff, and officials from the Ministry of Rural Development's Project Implementation Units (PIUs) under World Bank financing. The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of Project Implementation Units (PIUs) and officials from the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Key objectives included enhancing operational and project preparation capabilities, improving readiness for implementation, increasing project execution efficiency, and promoting the sharing of experiences and knowledge exchange. The ultimate goal is to support the achievement of better and faster project implementation results. Over the three days, participants gained new knowledge from experienced international instructors. A significant focus was placed on the exchange of project implementation experiences between Cambodia and the Lao People's Democratic Republic, particularly in areas such as financial management, procurement, and social and environmental safeguards. These efforts are expected to contribute to more effective and efficient project execution. This initiative is designed to bolster the successful implementation of World Bank-funded projects and accelerate the achievement of desired outcomes.
