The Jakarta Provincial Education Agency has prepared a total capacity of 245,980 new student seats for the 2026/2027 academic year, encompassing public schools, joint selection programs, and free private schools, aiming to ensure quality education for all children.
The Jakarta Provincial Education Agency (Disdik DKI Jakarta) has announced preparations for the 2026/2027 academic year's New Student Admission System (SPMB), allocating a total of 245,980 seats for new students. This comprehensive intake plan includes slots in public schools, the collaborative SPMB Bersama program with private institutions, and the Free Private School initiative. Nahdiana, the Head of the Jakarta Provincial Education Agency, stated on Monday, June 15, 2026, that the SPMB for the upcoming academic year is designed to be more objective, transparent, and inclusive. She emphasized the agency's commitment to ensuring that every child in Jakarta has an equal opportunity to receive quality education. The admission process will adhere to Governor's Decree No. 238 of 2026, which outlines the technical guidelines for new student admissions. The Jakarta provincial government's strategy involves expanding educational access by fostering partnerships with private schools, thereby reducing the exclusive reliance on public educational facilities. Out of the total 245,980 available seats, public schools will accommodate 228,163 students. This figure is broken down by educational level: 6,310 for Early Childhood Education (PAUD), 95,965 for Elementary School (SD), 73,289 for Junior High School (SMP), 29,337 for Senior High School (SMA), 19,541 for Vocational High School (SMK), 891 for Special Needs School (SLB), and 2,830 for the Community Learning Center (SKB). Furthermore, the SPMB Bersama program, which involves 298 private schools, is set to admit 7,708 new students. This includes 1,597 places for SMP, 2,519 for SMA, and 3,592 for SMK. The Free Private School program, participating 103 schools, will offer 10,109 seats across elementary, junior high, senior high, vocational, and special needs education levels. The SPMB 2026/2027 admission process will utilize four distinct pathways: the Achievement pathway (Prestasi) for students with notable academic or non-academic achievements; the Affirmation pathway (Afirmasi) for underprivileged students; the Domicile pathway (Domisili), which considers geographic proximity to the school and its capacity; and the Transfer pathway (Mutasi), designed for children of parents with official job transfers and children of educators seeking admission to schools where their parents are stationed. Nahdiana firmly stated that the entire SPMB process is free of charge and strictly prohibits any form of gratuity. She also advised the public to exercise caution regarding information from unofficial sources and to adhere strictly to official announcements. Registration for the 2026/2027 academic year is scheduled to commence on June 15, 2026. Detailed information will be made available on the official Disdik DKI Jakarta website and the SPMB DKI Jakarta portal. To support applicants, the Education Agency will establish service desks at public schools, district education offices, and the agency's headquarters to assist those encountering difficulties during the registration period.
