Media Tour of 'Golden Galaxy' Casino in Bavet Following Online Scam Crackdown

On the afternoon of September 21st, 79 journalists from 39 domestic and international media organizations visited the 'Golden Galaxy' casino in Bavet city, Svay Rieng province. This casino was previously raided by authorities for its involvement in online scams. The casino, located in Bavet district, is reportedly owned by a Chinese national named Hong Sing Che. It was later leased by two Vietnamese nationals, Le Van Nguyen and Nguyen Van Vinh, who allegedly used it as a base for online scam operations. Authorities conducted a crackdown on April 7th, 2026, seizing over 600 computers, mobile phones, and other equipment. During the operation, three key figures were arrested and sent to court, subsequently being imprisoned. A total of 275 foreign nationals, including 25 Chinese, 182 Vietnamese, 8 South Koreans, and 60 Bangladeshis, were identified and handed over to the General Department of Immigration for deportation from Cambodia. This media tour aims to inform the public about the progress in combating online scams in Cambodia and the nature of international criminal organizations involved. The Bavet region, situated along the border, has historically been identified as a hotspot for illicit activities.
