Cambodian Parliamentarian Encourages Scholarship Students to Acquire Knowledge and Skills for National Development
Cambodia's Deputy National Assembly Speaker strongly encouraged scholarship students heading to Russia and the EU to acquire knowledge and skills and contribute to their homeland. The students are also expected to respect local laws and culture and act as "ambassadors of goodwill" for Cambodia, promoting its culture and achievements.
On September 2, 2026, at the National Assembly of Cambodia, Second Vice President Vong Soth welcomed and advised government scholarship students who are preparing to pursue doctoral, master's, bachelor's, and medical degrees in the Russian Federation and the European Union (EU) for the 2026-2027 academic year. During the meeting, Second Vice President Vong Soth considered obtaining this scholarship as a source of pride for the students, their families, and the nation, and as evidence of the capabilities, hard work, and will of Cambodian youth. He further stated that the Russian Federation and the European Union are both important partners of Cambodia and have contributed significantly to the country's development. The Russian Federation, from the Soviet era to the present, has always supported Cambodia, especially in education and human resource development. Meanwhile, the European Union is an important cooperation partner and a major export market for Cambodian goods, while also providing support to Cambodia in key sectors such as education, vocational skills, good governance, human rights, agriculture, natural resource management, and the promotion of democracy. Mr. Vong Soth encouraged the students to study diligently, absorb modern knowledge and skills, be patient, have strong determination, and overcome all difficulties, in order to contribute their acquired knowledge and experience to the construction and development of the nation. Concurrently, he urged the students to respect the laws and regulations of their host countries and educational institutions, maintain their health, dignity, discipline, morality, and solidarity as Cambodian students. He also encouraged the students to fulfill their roles as "ambassadors of goodwill and culture" by helping to disseminate Cambodia's culture, traditions, history, and achievements, and to participate in defending and rejecting any information that intentionally distorts the truth and harms national interests.
