Vietnam Alliance Boosts Online Safety, Digital Trust Efforts

Since its establishment, the Digital Trust Alliance (DTA) in Vietnam has steadily expanded its membership and activities. In the first six months of 2026 alone, hundreds of applications to join were recorded. The alliance aims to establish Digital Trust Clubs in all 34 provinces and cities across Vietnam, bringing together approximately 1,000 members nationwide. This initiative is part of a series of policies aimed at protecting national security in cyberspace and strengthening the rights and freedoms of citizens amid Vietnam's rapid digital transformation. The Vietnamese government has issued rules for handling cyberspace activities that threaten national security, making the assurance of trust and safety in the digital space a crucial issue for the country. The DTA's activities involve collaboration between businesses, government agencies, and civil society organizations to prevent online fraud and the spread of misinformation, thereby fostering a healthy digital ecosystem. The increase in membership and the establishment of clubs are intended to promote digital literacy to a broader segment of the population and raise national awareness towards achieving a safe online environment. Under Vietnam's one-party system, state-led social control and development are pursued in parallel, and the management of cyberspace falls within this framework. For Vietnam, which continues to experience economic growth, strengthening cybersecurity and establishing digital trust, alongside the development of digital infrastructure, are indispensable elements for fostering international cooperation and attracting foreign investment.
