Cambodia Prioritizes Early Education Reform, AI Integration, and Practical Skills

Mr. Chith Sokhon, Chairman of the Senate's Commission on Education, Youth, Sports, Religion, Culture, Fine Arts, and Tourism, stated that the reform of the education system must begin at the kindergarten and primary school levels. He emphasized the need to link theory with practice to ensure quality and capacity, particularly in enhancing foreign language proficiency and 21st-century skills to enable competitiveness in the future job market. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening teachers' capacity to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) and new teaching methodologies. Mr. Chith Sokhon made these remarks during a meeting with the management of Bun Rany Hun Sen Primary School in Damnak Chheu, Prey Thom Commune, Kep City, Kep Province, on the morning of July 23, 2026. The purpose of the meeting was to gain insights into teaching and learning experiences, challenges faced, and resolution measures, which would then serve as new inputs for dissemination and sharing with schools in other regions. During the occasion, Mr. Chith Sokhon praised the school management, teachers, and provincial authorities for their commitment and efforts in strengthening and improving the quality of education, aligning with the 'Pentagonal Strategy' Phase 1 of the government.
