Indonesia has officially received its first aircraft carrier, the 'Giuseppe Garibaldi', from Italy, which has been renamed 'KRI Sriwijaya-100'. The aircraft carrier Giuseppe Garibaldi was renamed KRI Sriwijaya-100 following its handover from Italy to Indonesia on Thursday. Prasetyo stated that Indonesia's first aircraft carrier will be used to strengthen the TNI Navy. Furthermore, Prasetyo mentioned that KRI Sriwijaya-100 is expected to assist in handling the forest and land fires (karhutla) that frequently occur in Indonesia. The ship has a helicopter base that can be prepared at any time to support karhutla firefighting efforts using the water bombing method. "We hope this will strengthen our Navy and bring benefits in solving the problems we face," he said. "For instance, to resolve or assist the karhutla firefighting process, this aircraft carrier can be utilized as a, what do you call it, a base for our helicopters that carry out the firefighting process using water bombing from the air," Prasetyo added.
