Aboitiz, ACCIONA Forge Partnership for Integrated Facilities Management in PH

MANILA, Philippines — Spanish multinational ACCIONA has teamed up with local conglomerate Aboitiz Group to deliver integrated facilities management (IFM) services to domestic enterprises, opening up new revenue opportunities for both parties. Aboitiz Construction Inc. yesterday said it has signed a partnership with ACCIONA to set up a new joint venture entity named ACCIONA Facility Management Philippines. The joint venture company capitalizes on ACCIONA’s global expertise and Aboitiz Construction’s engineering expertise to enter the country’s IFM market. The company’s IFM services span from maintenance and technical services, to business process outsourcing, as well as support tasks, such as cleaning and housekeeping. Further, it can provide high-value services to technically-demanding industries like pharmaceuticals and transport. Aboitiz Construction president and chairman Anton Mari Perdices said innovation would be the heart of the joint venture, relying on digital tools, latest innovation and lean methodologies to improve the cost efficiency of its clients. Aboitiz Construction executive director Antonio Peñalver added that the company has partnered with ACCIONA because of its track record on business expansion and operational competence. “We chose ACCIONA because of their competence, internal capabilities and their successful model of international expansion, alongside the alignment between our values and the way we believe that the business should be conducted,” Peñalver said. ACCIONA managing director for Southeast Asia Ruben Camba said the Philippines is an important market for the multinational company, especially as its IFM demand is rising. “The Philippines is a strategic market for ACCIONA and an important hub for our presence in Asia. This joint venture with Aboitiz Construction allows us to bring extensive international knowhow, innovation and digital capabilities in IFM to support the evolving needs of our clients and build a strong platform for long-term growth,” Camba said. IFM refers to the business approach in which multiple facility functions are delivered by a single service provider. This cuts operational expenses, as the client is tied to just one contract, instead of hiring separate vendors for each service. Typically, IFM goes beyond facilities maintenance and covers other support services, particularly cleaning and security. ACCIONA is one of Spain’s largest firms, with business presence in 10 countries and thousands of projects in its fold, while Aboitiz Construction is known for putting up industrial facilities.
