NSPNC and LDU meet in Nay Pyi Taw

Matters concerning the socio-economic development of the Lahu ethnic people in the Mong Hsat region, Arabica coffee cultivation, improvement of transportation, and supply of water and electricity were discussed. A meeting between the National Solidarity and Peacebuilding Steering Committee (NSPNC) and the Lahu Democratic Union (LDU) was held this morning (July 24) in the meeting hall of the Singaha Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw, it was learned. It was learned that representatives including Chairman of the National Solidarity and Peacebuilding Steering Committee Lt-Gen La Pyae, Secretary Lt-Gen Min Naing, members of the steering committee, LDU Chairman Cha Solomon, Vice-Chairman Cha Htoo, General Secretary Cha Yakote, and Joint Secretary (1) Na Daw Shar, Joint Secretary (2) Na Mae Thazin Oo attended the meeting. At the meeting, Chairman of the Steering Committee Lt-Gen La Pyae stated that discussions have also been held jointly with the NCA-S EAO negotiation and coordination team, and that bilateral discussions are being held to fulfill the aspirations and difficulties of each organization, and that they are walking the path of peace. He added that ethnic armed organizations can walk the path of peace through any means in addition to the NCA, and that they are opening the door to all ethnic armed organizations for regional stability and development, as well as for the establishment of lasting peace. He also mentioned that the steering committee is coordinating and working with the relevant organizations to address aspirations and needs in accordance with existing laws, and that there are also matters that need to be coordinated in terms of legal aspects. Following this, LDU Chairman Cha Solomon stated that they welcome the invitation for peace extended by the Union Government and the National Solidarity and Peacebuilding Central Committee (NSPCC) without any prior restrictions, and that they have observed that discussions are being held without prior restrictions. He added that they will also frankly discuss the needs of the region. Afterwards, the attendees discussed future plans for the Lahu people, regional development projects, socio-economic development of the Lahu ethnic people in the Mong Hsat-Panwai-Waili region of Shan State (Eastern), Arabica coffee cultivation, improvement of transportation, supply of water and electricity, technical support and provision of seeds and inputs for coffee technicians, and prevention of involvement in drug and online scamming activities, it was learned. Subsequently, Secretary of the National Solidarity and Peacebuilding Steering Committee Lt-Gen Min Naing explained and discussed that needs related to regional development, education, agricultural activities, liaison offices, and welfare programs will be coordinated and facilitated with the relevant ministries in accordance with existing laws. Following this, coordination was made to record the discussions of both sides, and the record was signed and approved, it was learned. The National Solidarity and Peacebuilding Central Committee, led by the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, believes that it is especially necessary to end armed conflicts and resolve political problems through political means in the process of peacebuilding, and has invited the holding of discussions without prior restrictions through Announcement No. 1/2026 on April 21, 2026, in order to implement and promote peace processes for national development and stability.
