Myanmar nationals in Malaysia urged to apply for PJ passport renewal 3 months before work permit expiry

Myanmar nationals residing in Malaysia are urged to apply for the renewal of their PJ (Paspor Jaya) type passports starting three months before their Work Permit expires, the Myanmar Embassy in Kuala Lumpur announced on September 14. The Myanmar Embassy in Kuala Lumpur stated that it is processing renewals on the same day for PJ type passport holders whose Work Permits and Special Passes are nearing expiration, after reviewing and selecting applicants who have made appointments via WhatsApp and email. However, during this process, it was discovered during reviews that some applicants who made appointments via WhatsApp have been repeatedly sending messages via WhatsApp and email, sending messages from various phone numbers, making phone calls, sending voice messages, sending matters unrelated to passport renewal, and falsely applying by claiming their Work Permit expiry dates or falsely claiming their passports were lost. This has caused significant delays and complications, according to the announcement. Therefore, if applicants who have made appointments are found to have applied in such a manner, their first appointment will be postponed, and if further violations are detected, their appointment applications will not be considered, and the phone numbers used for applications will be blocked. Furthermore, the announcement states that applicants who obtain appointments should submit their applications as a group through their respective companies when applying via email, and individual applications sent to the embassy's email will not be considered.
