(Photo – AFP) MizzimaEAE A fighter jet belonging to the military junta crashed at approximately 5:16 AM today (August 3) in Hmawbi Township, Yangon Region, after colliding with a bird during a training flight, the military junta announced. It is said that the aircraft collided with a bird near Nyaungdonepin village, about 8,500 meters southeast of Hmawbi town, and the bird entered the engine compartment, causing the engine to catch fire. The announcement stated that the pilot ejected safely, and no injuries were sustained by the aircraft crew. It is not yet known what type of aircraft crashed and whether there were any injuries among the local residents near the crash site, and Mizzima is continuing to investigate.
