Korat Residents Plant 4,000 Trees to Honor King's Birthday

In Nakhon Ratchasima province, Thailand, a large-scale tree-planting event was held to celebrate the 69th birthday of His Majesty the King on July 28th. The activity was led by former Deputy Prime Minister Suwat Liptapanlop, with the participation of many stakeholders including local residents, government officials, and private organizations. The initiative aims to plant approximately 4,000 trees along the historic "Chom Surayangyart Road," transforming the area into the "lungs of the city." Notable attendees included Mr. Tevan Liptapanlop, Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister, Members of Parliament representing Nakhon Ratchasima, the Deputy Governor of the province, and the Mayor of Nakhon Ratchasima City. Participants expressed their loyalty and gratitude to His Majesty the King, while also pledging to continue and develop the royal initiatives focused on conserving and restoring natural resources. Mr. Suwat explained that this tree-planting activity inherits the royal projects of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, who emphasized environmental conservation. He particularly highlighted the "Pa Rak Nam" (Forest Conserving Water) project in Sakon Nakhon province as a model for ecosystem preservation. The chosen location, Chom Surayangyart Road, is a historically significant route inaugurated by the Queen of King Rama V in 1911. The planting of trees such as "Rung Phung" and "Inthanon Nam" symbolizes the integration of loyalty, history, and environmental protection. Nakhon Ratchasima City aims to increase urban green spaces to combat global warming, reduce air pollution, and enhance the city's landscape. Plans are underway to expand tree planting to other roads within the province, fostering sustainable development for Korat.
