In Cambodia's northeastern Kratie province, military police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the murder of a 65-year-old man. The incident occurred on the night of June 25, 2026, at a farm hut in Prek Prasap district. The suspect, identified as Jinh Chan, 25, from Roka Thom village, Chroy Bantey commune, Prek Prasap district, allegedly attacked the victim, Pon Soth, 65, with a knife. According to police, the suspect became enraged after the victim reprimanded him for allowing his cattle to enter the victim's cashew plantation and consume crops. Following the crime, the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended around 11:40 PM on June 27, 2026, in the Som Depo area of Yao village, Sambour commune. The arrest was made by a joint force from the Kratie Provincial Gendarmerie, Prek Prasap District Gendarmerie, and Sambour District Gendarmerie. On the morning of June 28, 2026, investigators led the suspect to the scene, where a knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered from under a tree near the suspect's house.
