Ho Chi Minh City Collects 125 Sets of Remains at Le Thi Rieng Park

The remains collection team under the Ho Chi Minh City Command has announced that it is continuing to expand its search area at the second burial pit within Le Thi Rieng Park, based on witness testimonies and field survey results. These efforts are part of the endeavor to restore memories for the relatives of the fallen soldiers. In the past, the park has also hosted memorial events for fallen heroes by artists and cultural figures, as well as ceremonies to commemorate General Secretary Tran Phu and other heroes. The program "Sao sáng dẫn đường" (Guiding Stars) has also been held at this location, showing respect for the fallen. Aerial photographs are being utilized as a "key" to uncover mass burial sites of fallen soldiers in the search for collective burial pits. Vietnam has experienced numerous casualties during its wars for independence and the Vietnam War, and the government is prioritizing the collection and identification of the remains of fallen soldiers. This is positioned as one of the key policies to enhance national patriotism and strengthen social unity. Especially in the current era where memories of war are fading, the collection of remains serves not only as a gesture of respect for lost lives but also as an opportunity to reaffirm the preciousness of peace.
