National Assembly Standing Committee considers 2027 legislative programme

The National Assembly Standing Committee has convened to discuss the legislative program up to 2027, outlining the roadmap for the development and improvement of the country's legal system. Following recent adoptions by the National Assembly (NA), the Office of the President announced orders promulgating 15 laws. Among these are amendments and supplements to 10 laws concerning administrative procedures and business conditions in the agricultural and environmental sectors. Provisions of the Law on Vietnamese Guest Workers under Contracts have also been amended. Vietnam is deepening its international cooperation, with agreements to enhance collaboration in public governance, digital government, and leadership training with the Republic of Korea. Defense and security cooperation will also be strengthened, aiming for breakthroughs in economic, trade, and investment areas. Domestically, a retail electricity pricing mechanism, including peak, off-peak, and normal hours, is being considered for household customers where technical conditions permit. This aims to offer consumers more flexible pricing based on usage times. The Minister of Industry and Trade will be empowered to approve the wholesale electricity price framework. In infrastructure development, the progress of high-speed railways, smart transport systems, and integrated logistics networks connecting roads, railways, seaports, and inland waterways presents significant opportunities for further cooperation with Italy. Vietnam is expanding its role on the international stage. The attendance of its leaders at the UN General Assembly, ahead of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-UN relations, reflects a foreign policy vision prioritizing peace, stability, security, and the well-being of its people. Relations with key partners such as France, the United States, and Canada are steadily progressing, deepening comprehensive strategic partnerships and contributing to regional and global peace and development. Furthermore, Vietnam is advancing its strategy for the peaceful use of atomic energy, with plans for development and application through 2035 and a vision to 2050. This includes preparations for nuclear power projects and a nuclear science and technology center. In its relations with Japan, cooperation in finance, semiconductors, AI, critical minerals, and energy is expected to foster mutual growth and contribute to regional peace and prosperity. The consideration of these legislative programs is expected to protect domestic production capacity, support exporters in maintaining and expanding overseas markets, and create conditions for sustainable economic growth.
