PM to Decide Annual Public Holiday Schedule in Vietnam: Ministry

Vietnam's Ministry of Home Affairs has proposed amending the Labor Code to grant the Prime Minister the authority to decide the annual public holiday schedule, moving this power from the Minister of Home Affairs. The ministry would officially announce the finalized schedule by December 31 each year. A new "Vietnam Culture Day" on November 24 is also proposed.

  • Vietnam Proposes Consolidating Public Holiday Decisions with Prime Minister, Including Culture Day

    Vietnam's Ministry of Internal Affairs has proposed amendments to the Labor Law, consolidating the authority to decide public holidays with the Prime Minister. Aiming for National Assembly approval by October 2026, the proposal also includes making Vietnam Culture Day (November 24) a new public holiday. This would increase the annual number of official holidays to 12, spread across six holiday periods.
