Cambodia Strengthens Safety Measures for Worker Transport Vehicles

Mr. Men Eng stated that the workshop reflects the strong commitment of the Cambodian government, through inter-ministerial cooperation, to protect the lives, well-being, and comfort of workers in the textile and garment sectors nationwide, particularly within the special economic zones of Svay Rieng Province. Mr. Kuoch Soman recommended that stakeholders, especially factory representatives and vehicle owners, pay close attention to working conditions and safety during workers' commutes, recognizing human resources as a crucial driving force for national economic growth. Ms. Min Manavy emphasized that improving worker transport means to meet technical standards is a top priority and an essential task. She urged all vehicle owners and drivers to cease overloading that causes accidents and to promptly undergo regular technical inspections. She also called for cooperation in affixing identification stickers to facilitate management and smooth travel by authorities. The workshop included detailed discussions and presentations on the technical inspection of worker transport vehicles, and culminated in the official affixing of identification stickers to vehicles that had passed technical inspections.
