Motorcyclist booked under highway law after car collides with him on expressway

A car collided with a motorcycle that suddenly crossed the road near milepost 82 on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in Bago Region on the night of September 19, resulting in injuries to two men on the motorcycle. The motorcyclist has been booked under the Expressway Law, it is known. The incident occurred around 11:15 PM on September 19, when a Honda Fit Shuttle vehicle, carrying a total of four people including the driver (three men and one woman), was traveling from Yangon towards Nay Pyi Taw (on the outbound lane) on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway. Upon reaching near milepost 82 miles and 7 furlongs, it collided with a DAYAN-110 motorcycle carrying two men who suddenly crossed the road. As a result of the collision, the four people in the Honda Fit Shuttle vehicle did not sustain any injuries, but the two men on the motorcycle sustained injuries and are receiving inpatient treatment (not critical) at the hospital, it is known. Regarding the incident, the Honda Fit Shuttle vehicle reported the incident to the nearest Myo Chaung Expressway Police Station. It is known that the motorcyclist, who was riding a motorcycle not permitted on the expressway, has been booked under the Expressway Law. The Expressway Law prohibits walking, crossing the road, riding motorcycles, bicycles, tricycles, and animals such as cattle, goats, and sheep on expressways. The Expressway Maintenance and Supervision Committee has announced that if any damage occurs to vehicles traveling legally on the expressway due to these prohibited persons, vehicles, carts, or animals, the relevant pedestrian, vehicle driver, cart driver, walker, animal herder, or animal owner will be prosecuted according to the law. Similarly, around 7:15 AM on September 20, on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway between mileposts 19/7 and 20/6, a NISSAN SERENA Mini Van, carrying three men and one woman including the driver, was traveling from Nay Pyi Taw to Yangon. The driver reportedly fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle, crashing into the guardrails on the central median and ending up in the drain on the central median, it is known.
