Prabowo Highlights 30% State Budget Leakage, Vows to Curb It

President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has stated his commitment to stopping fraudulent practices of inflating the state budget. He mentioned that so far, budget leakage has reached 30 percent of the total state budget. "The state budget is 270 billion dollars, approximately 3,700 trillion rupiah. So if 30 percent leaks, it means more than 1,000 trillion rupiah leaks. I am stopping this," said Prabowo at the 28th Anniversary of PKB in Jakarta on Thursday (23/7). Prabowo emphasized that he will stop the cunning tactics of parties that harm state finances. He also invited all parties to introspect. "Gentlemen, Ladies, you all know what is happening. Right? True? Every purchase from a government institution, the price is definitely inflated," he said. Prabowo stated that there is a practice of inflating funds that is considered wild. Again, he emphasized that he is stopping this practice and implementing savings. He claimed that in the first few months of his leadership, the budget saved reached 300 trillion rupiah. "This is what we use for nutritious food, this is what we use for the bridge that was mentioned. We are building 5,000 bridges by December 2026. 5,000 bridges. If necessary, we will build more next year," he said.
