Habagat to Bring Rains, Gloomy Skies During Marcos' SONA

Gloomy skies with isolated rains are expected to prevail over Metro Manila on Monday, July 27, the day President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will deliver his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA), due to the southwest monsoon, locally known as "habagat," the state weather bureau said. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the southwest monsoon is forecast to be the dominant weather system affecting the country on Monday. The president's annual address is scheduled every fourth Monday of July at the session hall of the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City. The weather bureau also noted that mostly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may prevail over Zambales, Bataan, Pangasinan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan due to the habagat. Meanwhile, the rest of the country is expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional rains due to localized thunderstorms. Light to moderate southwesterly to southerly winds may prevail over Luzon, while light to moderate southerly winds may affect Visayas and Mindanao, Pagasa reported.
