Cambodia Accelerates National ID Card Renewals in Provinces

In Cambodia's Kratié province, specifically in Chhlong district, the process of renewing national ID cards to the new format is actively underway. This initiative targets citizens holding old-format ID cards, those who have lost them, individuals who will turn 15 in 2026 and are eligible for the new format, and holders of the new format card (Type 3) whose cards expire in 2026. According to officials from the identification department of the Chhlong district police inspectorate, local authorities are working to enhance citizens' understanding of the critical importance and benefits of the new-format national ID card. The district has seen an increase in enterprises, companies, and factories recruiting labor, creating approximately 1,638 job opportunities, which necessitate proper identification. Identification officials stated that detailed schedules have been prepared for each village, commune, and police post to facilitate the data collection for the new national ID cards. This aims to assist citizens with old-format cards, those who have lost them, individuals who will reach the age of 15 in 2026 and are eligible, and those with Type 3 new-format cards expiring in 2026. Officials from the identification department of the Kratié Provincial Police Commissionerate are continuing to expedite their work to improve the efficiency of public services provided to citizens, meeting their essential needs.
