Deputy Minister for Education U Nay Myo Hlaing accompanied by officials visited Basic Education Schools in Ayeyawady Region which had been temporarily closed due to rising river levels and torrential rain, as well as schools that had reopened after the floodwaters receded, and arranged for necessary assistance. During the visit, the Deputy Minister inspected the extent of flooding in school compounds and classrooms in low-lying areas, the reopening of schools where floodwaters had receded and the replacement of learning materials damaged or washed away by the floods. Stationery were also provided to the students, along with financial assistance for teachers. At No. (2) Basic Education High School in Maubin Township, the Deputy Minister met with the District and Township level Education Officers, school principals and teachers and urged them to carry out teaching and learning with commitment. He later heard reports on the condition of school buildings and ongoing educational activities, providing the financial assistance to flood-affected staff and students.
