Vietnam Urges Yamato Holdings to Expand Investment in Logistics and AI
Vietnam's Minister of Public Security requested Yamato Holdings of Japan to expand its investments in developing logistics hubs around Gia Binh International Airport and establishing an AI research and development center with FPT, aiming to strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
On July 6, in Hanoi, General Luong Tam Quang, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security, received Mr. Nagao Yutaka, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yamato Holdings Group (Japan), for a working visit to the Ministry of Public Security. Minister Luong Tam Quang welcomed the contributions of Yamato Holdings Group to the socio-economic development of Vietnam since the establishment of its subsidiary in 2015. He affirmed the goal of building Gia Binh International Airport into a leading air cargo transit hub in the region. Minister Luong Tam Quang proposed that Yamato Holdings Group research and evaluate investment in warehousing and freight transportation systems at the airport. He also suggested directions for cooperation and operation between Yamato and Vietnamese partners when the airport officially becomes operational. He highly appreciated Yamato Holdings Group's plan to cooperate with FPT Group to establish an Artificial Intelligence (AI) laboratory in Vietnam. Minister Luong Tam Quang requested Yamato Holdings Group to continue expanding investment and building large-scale, high-speed logistics centers, financial centers, and logistical infrastructure with advanced technology in Vietnam's key economic regions. He also suggested prioritizing the recruitment of disciplined and highly skilled Vietnamese employees and laborers into the group's system. Yamato Holdings Group Chairman Nagao Yutaka affirmed that the group will continue to research and implement key cooperation projects, contributing to promoting the strong relationship between Vietnam and Japan.
