Koh Kong Authorities Bust Online Scam Site, Detain 131 Suspects

Authorities in Koh Kong province have launched an operation to crack down on an online scam operation located in Peam Khai village, Koh Sdech commune, Kirisakor district. A total of 131 foreign suspects were detained. Ms. Chey Vaa, Governor of Koh Kong province, announced on the afternoon of July 30th that the site, west of Star Lite, served as a hub for technological fraud activities (Online Scam). Law enforcement apprehended 131 foreign nationals, predominantly Chinese, including two women. The illicit site was housed within a corrugated iron structure, and numerous materials and a sum of money were seized as evidence. According to the provincial governor, these foreigners were apprehended on July 29, 2026, and are currently being transferred to the Koh Kong Provincial Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings. Meanwhile, Major General Kong Mounoe, Commissioner of the Koh Kong Provincial Police, stated that the raid was conducted following recent confidential information. Specialized forces collaborated with representatives of the Provincial Court Prosecutor's Office to surround the location, which was secretly used for online scamming and had evaded previous law enforcement efforts. The provincial police commissioner further added that the seized evidence and materials are being systematically organized.
