New Governor Appointed for Mong Ruessei District in Battambang, Emphasizing Security and Public Services

Battambang, September 14, 2026 – Mr. Thon Sophon was inaugurated as the new governor of Mong Ruessei district in Battambang province on September 14, 2026. The ceremony was held at the Mong Ruessei district hall and was attended by H.E. Ouy Ry, Chairman of the Provincial Council, and H.E. Sok Lu, Governor of Battambang province. During the event, H.E. Sok Lu instructed the newly appointed district governor to strengthen crackdowns on drug trafficking, gambling, juvenile delinquency, illegal fishing, and all other types of offenses with high effectiveness. The Provincial Governor also urged district and commune authorities to pay close attention to clearing and widening public roads and spaces, maintaining environmental hygiene, preventing loud noises that disturb residents, and planting more trees in populated areas and schools for the benefit of future generations. He called on all civil servants within the district administration structure to maintain solidarity, respect the hierarchy, and support the leadership of the new district governor to ensure that administrative and public services are provided with high energy and efficiency. He also emphasized that the unified administrative command at all levels must effectively crack down on and close illegal gambling establishments within their respective areas. H.E. Sok Lu declared his full support and commitment to the implementation of the Strategic Plan on Enhancing Land Administration, National Security, Public Order, and Social Safety for 2024-2028. He expressed firm confidence that the successful implementation of this strategic plan will lead to the well-being of the people, improved livelihoods, and easier access to administrative and security services with trust, confidence, speed, modernity, and effectiveness, thereby ensuring the development of the province in all aspects, inclusivity, and digital technology.
