Myanmar junta bombs monastery and vicinity in Thandwe, injuring seven including monk and child

The Arakan Army (AA) announced 24 July that seven people, including a Buddhist monk and a child, were injured after the military junta bombed a monastery and its surrounding area in Ngapali, Thandwe Township, Rakhine State. The attack occurred 23 July at around 12:00 pm, when a military junta jet fighter twice bombed the Pyi Yadanar Monastery and its vicinity in Jittaw (Ward 5), Ngapali, Thandwe Township. The strike injured six people and destroyed eight homes. Later at 1:30 pm, a junta jet fighter dropped two bombs on the AZ Family Resort at Linthar Beach, according to the AA statement. This subsequent attack injured one local resident and damaged bungalows at the AZ Family Resort along with several nearby civilian homes. Additionally, the military junta conducted airstrikes targeting three townships in Rakhine State on July 19. The attacks targeted Ma-ei, Thandwe, and Ponnagyun townships. The strike on Ma-ei killed five local residents and injured 22 others, including a monk and several children. The attack on Thandwe injured four residents, while the raid on Ponnagyun injured two monks and one civilian, according to the AA.
