Cambodian Nurse's License Suspended for 2 Years Over Improper First Aid

The National Council of Nurses has decided to suspend the professional nursing license of Mr. Chun Phonlly, former head of the Setbo Health Center, for two years due to the application of first aid techniques that did not meet professional standards. According to a statement released by the Kandal Provincial Department of Health on August 5, 2026, this decision was made after the National Council of Nurses reviewed the case related to Mr. Chun Phonlly's professional practice. Mr. Chun Phonlly was formerly the head of the Setbo Health Center, located in Ta Khmau City, Kandal Province. As per the decision, Mr. Chun Phonlly will not be permitted to practice as a nurse for a period of two years, commencing from August 10, 2026, until August 10, 2028. The case attracted public attention after a video of Mr. Chun Phonlly's first aid activities in an ambulance was shared and criticized. The Kandal Provincial Department of Health and relevant institutions have taken a series of measures in response, including the termination of his duties as head of the Setbo Health Center and the suspension of his professional license for two years.
