Unauthorized Access to Under-Construction Highways Sparks Safety Concerns in Vietnam

Incidents of unauthorized access by residents and vehicles to the under-construction Đồng Đăng (Lạng Sơn) - Trà Lĩnh (Cao Bằng) expressway in northern Vietnam have been reported. These activities include general vehicle traffic, jogging, filming, live streaming, and kite flying. Construction authorities are warning that such unauthorized entry not only jeopardizes the safe operation of the infrastructure under construction but also poses a significant risk to the lives of construction workers and the individuals entering the site. The risk of unexpected accidents is extremely high, especially in areas where construction materials and heavy machinery are in operation. Vietnam is rapidly expanding its expressway network in line with its economic growth. In the northern regions, infrastructure investment is particularly active, aimed at strengthening logistics networks and regional development, especially in areas bordering China. The Đồng Đăng - Trà Lĩnh expressway is a key project in this context. Authorities plan to enhance access restrictions around construction sites and conduct public awareness campaigns to deter such dangerous behavior. However, the difficulty of completely managing vast construction areas is also acknowledged. The implementation of more effective safety measures is now crucial.
