Vietnam's Education Minister Addresses Public Concerns Amid New Policy Implementation

Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son detailed key issues of public concern in the education sector during a session at the National Assembly. This session took place at a critical juncture, as new, groundbreaking policies for education and training, recently adopted by the Assembly, are entering their initial implementation phase. Five main areas of significant public interest were the focus of the explanation. Notably, National Assembly deputies urged for priority allocation of resources towards improving teacher salaries, underscoring the recognition that better teacher welfare is fundamental to enhancing educational quality. In recent years, Vietnam has achieved rapid economic growth, with human capital development identified as a paramount objective to fuel this growth. The current review of education policies aims to cultivate talent capable of adapting to globalization and technological innovation, making the overcoming of initial implementation challenges directly relevant to Vietnam's future competitiveness. In terms of relations with China, as economic interdependence deepens, fostering technological innovation and nurturing high-skilled human resources hold strategic importance for Vietnam to narrow the economic gap with China and enhance its own industrial competitiveness. The increased investment in education can be interpreted as part of this national strategy.
