Mekong-Lancang Regional Cybersecurity Forum Held to Strengthen Cooperation

Cambodia hosted the Mekong-Lancang Regional Cybersecurity Forum to strengthen regional cooperation in cyberspace and promote the sustainable development of the digital economy. The forum, held from July 15-17, 2026, brought together approximately 30 representatives from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam, along with regional experts. Presiding over the opening ceremony was H.E. Ing Sokuthdom, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, with participation from officials of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kingdom of Cambodia. Key discussion topics included cybersecurity policy, protection of information infrastructure, data security, and the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI). H.E. Ing Sokuthdom emphasized that cybersecurity issues require regional cooperation and trust-building. He stated that Cambodia is committed to strengthening its legal framework, human resources, and technical capabilities to foster a secure digital environment. The forum was sponsored by the Special Fund for Mekong-Lancang Cooperation, with the objective of enhancing cooperation and response capabilities to cyber threats.
