Thai Army Chief Orders Heightened Security Operations in Southern Border Region

General Pana Klaewplook, Commander of the Royal Thai Army, has ordered all units to enhance security operations and address vulnerabilities in the southern border region following an attack on the Bu-ge Sa-mi checkpoint on July 22, which resulted in the deaths of five Ranger volunteers and injuries to civilians. As the Deputy Director of Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Region 4, General Pana visited the affected area and chaired a meeting with relevant military and police officials. Attendees included Lieutenant General Narathip Poiyarnok, Director of ISOC Region 4, and Police Lieutenant General Piyawat Chalermsi, Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 9. General Pana emphasized that the security situation in the southern border provinces continues to face multifaceted threats. He urged all units to accelerate the achievement of their assigned missions. Any problems or obstacles encountered during operations must be reported immediately to superiors for prompt resolution and support. Furthermore, he mandated that all units conduct After Action Reviews (AAR) based on past training and operations to identify and rectify shortcomings, close gaps, and elevate the efficiency of their tactical operations, command, coordination, and support systems to be prepared for all scenarios. He also stressed that the provincial special task forces, as the primary mechanism for security operations in the area, must strengthen their operational capabilities, integrate cooperation with all sectors, and continuously monitor and evaluate their performance to optimize operations and achieve set objectives. General Pana conveyed his encouragement to all personnel, stating that the mission in the southern border provinces is crucial and requires sacrifice, dedication, and cooperation from all parties. He urged every soldier to perform their duties responsibly, adhere to correct operational principles, and collectively work towards building lasting safety, trust, and peace for the people in the region. He wished all personnel safety, high morale, and success in their missions.
