Heavy Rain Across Thailand, Bangkok and Vicinity at 70% Chance of Precipitation; Flood and Landslide Warnings Issued

Thailand is bracing for heavy rainfall across the country, with the Meteorological Department issuing warnings for flash floods and landslides. Northern, eastern, and western coastal regions are particularly susceptible to intense downpours. Bangkok and its surrounding areas face a 70% chance of precipitation. According to the 24-hour forecast issued on July 31st, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected nationwide. Some areas in the North, East, and the western coastal regions facing the Andaman Sea are likely to experience very heavy rain. Meanwhile, the Northeast, Central regions including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the eastern coastal regions are forecast to see heavy rain in certain locations. This is attributed to a monsoon trough passing through the North and Northeast, coupled with a relatively strong southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, though its intensity is expected to weaken. Residents, especially those in low-lying areas, near watercourses, and on hillsides, are urged to be cautious of flash floods and landslides caused by heavy and accumulated rainfall. On the seas, waves in the upper Andaman Sea are expected to be relatively strong, reaching approximately 2 meters. Areas with thunderstorms may experience waves exceeding 2 meters. The upper Gulf of Thailand will also see waves of about 2 meters, with higher waves in thunderstorm zones. Lower parts of the Gulf of Thailand will have waves around 1 meter, reaching 1-2 meters offshore and over 2 meters in thunderstorm areas. Seafarers are advised to navigate with caution and avoid areas with thunderstorms. For Bangkok and its surrounding areas, there is a 70% chance of thunderstorms, with some parts experiencing heavy rain. The minimum temperature is forecast to be between 24-26 degrees Celsius, and the maximum between 32-34 degrees Celsius. Winds will blow from the southwest at speeds of 10-25 kilometers per hour.
