Phnom Penh District Authorities Investigate Suspected Online Scam Sites, Deny False Reports

The Dangkao District Administration in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, has continued its administrative inspections of locations suspected of involvement in online scams. On March 31st, the Dangkao District Unity Command, led by District Governor and Command Chief Ms. Kim Nhip, conducted inspections in areas including Chankiri, Phnom Penh Thmey Koul Srov 1, 2, and 3, Chip Mong 50m, and Peng Huot residential developments. The inspections found no evidence of online scam activities at these locations. Concurrently, the Dangkao District Administration issued a statement to citizens, the public, and the media, refuting recent false information posted on the Facebook page "Taing Sarada." The post alleged that district authorities were harboring scammers in several residential developments. The Dangkao District Administration clarified that it has been disseminating Decree No. 03 Ankr.bk concerning security and safety management in residential and gathering locations to owners of Boreys, shophouses, warehouses, guesthouses, hotels, companies, factories, enterprises, and various businesses. The district has also regularly conducted administrative inspections of locations where foreigners reside, with the aim of clearing out suspected online scam sites within its jurisdiction. These efforts have repeatedly taken place without uncovering any criminal offenses as alleged. The district administration stated that it cannot accept baseless accusations or information disseminated without any factual basis or evidence, as seen in the Facebook post. Furthermore, the Dangkao District Administration encourages citizens and the public to cooperate by providing information about suspected online scam locations.
